Getting WEIRD and making choices

Greetings! I hope this email finds you. Et cetera.

Last week I promised you a look into the WEIRD process. Well, I have not just that, but something else to introduce to you today. For longtime readers, hopefully it'll feel like running into an old friend and also meeting a new one, all on the same day! For new folks, it might feel like meeting two quirky but lively people at a party, leaving you relieved and thinking, "good! I'm not the only one this time." Isn't it nice to find your people?

What the heck is the WEIRD process?
As we went over last week, the WEIRD process is a method for further aligning your life, even if by just a tiny incremental amount, with your energy, authenticity, and values, at your pace and on your terms. The letters in WEIRD each stand for a different step in the process, because one of my party tricks is coming up with acronyms (and, in this case, backronyms).

Want to Change
Educate on Solutions
Ideate and Implement
Reflect and Refine
Deliver on Your Dream

I should note here that not everyone who uses the WEIRD process will spell the word WEIRD the same way, and that's part of the fun! You might end up spelling it WEIRD, sure, but you could also spell it WEIRIRD, WED, WD, or even just W.

We'll learn more about that in the following weeks. I'm going to break down what exactly each letter is about, share practical applications for how to use them, and offer encouragement and progress checks to help you understand when you're ready to move onto the next letter or if it's time to revisit a previous one. Or, if you've reached D and properly celebrated, whether or not you'd like to start a new cycle from W.

Stay tuned! Things are certainly going to get WEIRD around here.

Introducing the chooseletter!

I've shared this with you before, but wanted to share a reminder. You're a valued member of this reader community and your feedback is immensely valuable! You'll have the chance to vote on whether each issue was valuable to you or not (note: if you are a subscriber and you vote from inside your inbox, your vote will be associated with your email address).

You'll also have the chance to suggest what you'd like to read about! If enough topics reach critical mass, that will influence the future of this newsletter and what I write about! How many newsletters do you read where you have that kind of agency? Cool, huh?

As an example, you could suggest general topics like how to build self confidence, or hyper-specific topics: maybe you're super into a particular game or show or book and you'd like me to check it out and share what I think! You can suggest anything. I can't guarantee every suggestion will turn into a newsletter issue, but I read and appreciate every submission, even if I can't respond to them all or grant every request.

You can also ask a question you'd like advice or coaching about. You can share your question with your name and a link to your website or social profile for free publicity, or you can choose to be published anonymously. Again, not all submissions will be published, but I will try to include as many as possible.
